Gratitude Kitchen & Bar was first launched in Newport Beach by the Love Serve Remember family behind Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre in 2016, with the intention of focusing their attention on creating an upscale iteration of the iconic restaurant Café Gratitude. Since then, Gratitude has continued to establish themselves further into the Southern California food scene while more recently launching a location in the Golden Triangle area of Beverly Hills.
Like its sister, Cafe Gratitude, Gratitude Kitchen & Bar is committed to offering food, service, and an environment that awakens guests into a state of gratitude. Starting in 2019, Gratitude Kitchen & Bar evolved beyond the Café Gratitude staple, launching a brand new menu and elevating every detail into a sophisticated dining experience, from custom flatware and glassware to white table-clothed and candle-lit dinner service. This menu elevation has distinguished the concept as totally unique from Café Gratitude, with its own branded website and social media presence.
The plant-based organic menu was developed by Executive Chef of Gratitude Seizan Dreux Ellis, who oversees the development and execution of the menus at all Café Gratitude and Gratitude locations. Due to his extensive training in Italy, Chef Ellis’ influence on Gratitude Kitchen & Bar is a high-end California take on classic Mediterranean cuisine.
“My intention was to create a clean and elegant menu that is very vegetable-forward and highlights the seasonal local produce that abounds in Southern California,” says Chef Dreux Ellis. “This new menu is a departure for Gratitude in that it really encourages a communal approach to dining that invites our guests to share a number of smaller plates. The plating is lighter and allows our guests the opportunity to try a variety of dishes. Another advantage of this new menu is that so many of our new dishes are really suited to wine pairings, which gives us a chance to showcase a lot of local and biodynamic wines.”
Chef Ellis’s artistry of presentation and flavor is driven by 100% organic seasonal and local produce. The high standard of ethical sourcing of organic and artisan ingredients that people trust from Café Gratitude stands true with this new elevated concept.
Highlights on the new dinner menu include Beetroot Tartare, Charred Shishito Peppers, Antipasto Plate, Roasted Shiitake & Eggplant, Asian Pear Salad, Roasted Portobello, Blackened Tempeh Bolognese, and more. Gratitude is also a brunch destination, with favorites such as Oyster Mushroom Chicken & Waffles, Gratitude Benedict, Tartine, and Avocado Toast.
Maxwell Reis of Gracias Madre is also the Beverage Director for Gratitude. His creative and fresh craft cocktail program focuses on using the best seasonal produce as well as a top-tier selection of spirits to bring a mindfully crafted juice-based cocktail experience for bar patrons.
Highlights on the drink menu include the Spirit Animal, the Turmeric Mule, Green Juice, Eastern Medicine, and alcoholic kombucha options. Non-alcoholic highlights include Matcha Limeade, Superfood Smoothies, Herbal Tonic Lattés, house-made cold-pressed juice and much more.
